Dr. Kristin Sohl Is Increasing Access to Autism Care

After watching caregivers and patients from rural areas travel long distances and take time off from work and school to receive autism diagnoses and treatment, and seeing the health care system struggling to meet their needs, pediatrician Kristin Sohl, MD, took action. She founded ECHO Autism, a virtual learning network of providers offering real-time access to autism and behavioral experts.

Her ABP MOC quality improvement (QI) project "ECHO Autism: Improving Access to Autism Diagnosis" was chosen as an Exemplar Project for improvements in behavioral and mental health. Ahead of World Mental Health Day, she sat down with ABP Vice President for Continuing Certification Keith Mann, MD, MEd, to talk about her work.
